Compression Stockings And Socks Are Officially Runway Trendy

During the annual Fashion Week in Milan, models were strutting their stuff with colorful and trendy patterns of socks and stockings.

In itself this would have been nothing out of the ordinary.

The unusual and noteworthy part of it was that this was no ordinary fashion hosiery at all – in fact the models showed their socks and stocking clad pins in ultra-chic compression garments.

Until just a few short years ago, compression and support hosiery was not something you would want to flaunt in public for everyone to see.

The main reason for this was that compression stockings were designed as merely utilitarian with an institutional look, resembling something used only in hospitals and similar types of facilities.

In addition, for many years compression garments had the stigma of being perceived as something only worn by old people who often had to wear these “granny stockings” because of leg issues.

That being said, compression stockings have definitely evolved into chic and trendy legwear and have left their “ugly duckling” stage behind for good.  Models at the Fashion Week in Milan showed the audience that today’s compression socks and stockings can be functional and fashionable at the same time.

Modern compression and support hose are designed and manufactured as sheer, colorful and comfortable leg garments.  They can rival ordinary fashion hosiery with their sheerness and attractive appearance.

Such fashionably light yet firmly supportive compression pantyhose and support stockings allow you to go about your daily business without feeling constricted in your movements. In addition, you won’t have to worry that people may notice you are wearing compression stockings.

Compression and support legwear provides you with support where you need it the most.  This supportive boost starts at the ankles, continues in the calf area, extending all the way up to your thighs to assist with blood circulation returning to the heart and lungs.  The blood cells then are recharged with oxygen before their next supply trip to the most distant cells in our body.

Wearing compression or support hosiery on a daily basis can virtually eliminate leg fatigue and feelings of heaviness from being on your feet all day.  Support hose can also prevent or reduce swelling from fluids that may otherwise accumulate in the lower parts of your leg and around the ankle area also known as “cankles”.

Compression stockings can be very beneficial for maintaining proper circulation in your legs while sitting or standing most of the day in your occupation.  They are also helpful when travelling long distances sitting on a plane, train or even driving for long hours in your car.

According to the New York Times Ms. Rubin, the director of U.S.A. sales for the French designer Isabel Marant, apparently tried compression tights during her trip to the Paris Fashion Week earlier in September. She stated, “I will never go back to not wearing compression when I travel” after experiencing the benefits of support stockings in preventing swollen and puffy ankles after a long airplane ride.

Countless individuals wearing Graduated Compression stockings on a daily basis state they have literally forgotten about leg pain and fatigue.

  • Well written. I have been wearing full leg compression pantyhose and stockings for over a year. Gradient 15-20 mhg. This happened after the second of both knee replacement surgeries. Had swelling, edema CVI and varicose veins. They function good and feel great. Starting to get more pairs with colors and patterns. Wear athletic compression socks too when exercising. Thanks

  • I have been wearing compression pantyhose for 5 years on a daily basis and will never go back to not wearing. They have really helped my leg comfort and my energy level. I wear them under my trousers at work, golfing, and relaxing. My choice is the most sheer I can find for comfort and coolness. They do not look like the old style from years back. They now come in colors to match your outfit. If I need to go barefoot for some reason, I would wear the compression leggings. If you have not tried them, you should because you will impressed on how well you feel.
