If symptoms or conditions of the veins or lymphatic system are not addressed early enough they can transform into more severe problems such as a general breakdown of skin tissue, the development of open wounds or ulcers.

Extra support through compression can be important either as a preventive measure or to help alleviate existing conditions. Compression and support stockings can help to ensure your blood is circulating properly by preventing pooling of blood or fluid in the legs.

For mild signs and symptoms such as fatigue or heaviness in the legs it can be sufficient to simply wear support hose of lower compression levels as a preventive measure.

For varicosities, swelling, thrombosis and other already existing conditions it may be beneficial to apply graduated compression stockings of medium or higher compression levels to control or alleviate the symptoms.

In any case you should always first see your physician who will assess your condition and make the proper recommendations for the type of compression therapy you may need.
